Community honors memory of 6 million

Houston Holocaust survivors and wartime rescuers also honored

Nearly 600 Houstonians – young and old, Jewish and non-Jewish – paid their respects to the 6 million innocent Jews murdered during the Holocaust at a citywide Yom Hashoah service on May 1. (more)
Israel getting charged up over future of electric cars

TEL AVIV, Israel – In a land of high gas prices and no oil resources, Israel is positioning itself to lead the world into the age of the electric car. With $200 million in funding from private investors and enthusiastic support from the Israeli government, a young Israeli high-tech multimillionaire, Shai Agassi, is laying the groundwork for Israel to become the first test case for the gasoline-free electric car. The Ronnie Arrow Houston Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, Class of 2008, will honor All-Star softball catcher Sam Odensky, of blessed memory, and Rice University’s Southwest Conference fencing champion, Fred Sklar, on Sunday, June 8, at the Jewish Community Center at 2 p.m. (more)
